“We are thrilled to have achieved such a positive outcome from this outreach event,” stated Clayton S. Fong, President and CEO of NAPCA. “The high turnout underscores the community’s recognition of the critical role vaccinations play in safeguarding public health. I want to reiterate that seniors who are 65 and older and with underlying conditions have the highest risk of severe outcomes due to COVID-19. People aged 65-75 are 30 times more likely to be hospitalized or die than young adults. This is the best time to get the shots.”
The event not only provided essential vaccinations but also served as a platform for educating Asian seniors about the benefits of immunization and dispelling common misconceptions. Shayna Daitch, Seattle Metropolitan Director of Senator Patty Murray added, “Senator Murray must be so proud of this turnout and your dedication to protecting the community. I’m sure she will continue to fight for all of you.”
Yang Jie Ying and Byun Hyo Seop, two participants at the event: “As seniors who are more vulnerable, we understand getting vaccinated every year is the best way to prevent serious illness from flu and COVID-19. The new shots will give us the best protection. This event has provided easy access to both vaccines. Also, the information given at the seminar was also very current and practical.”
NAPCA extends its deepest gratitude to the dedicated healthcare professionals, volunteers, community members, and local pharmacies whose collective efforts made this event a resounding success. “Through such collaborative initiatives, we strive to build a healthier and more resilient community,” said Clayton S. Fong.
