Position: Technical Laboratory Researcher, Level IV

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC

NAPCA needs a senior 55 years of age or older (PL-98-313) for a full-time position with the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program, for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Qualifications:

BS or MS degree in chemistry, biology, toxicology, bioengineering, or related field.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience with human cell culture, human stem cells and stem cell derived cells, spheroids, organoids, micro physiological devices, microfluidics, 3D cell imaging and transcriptional analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The enrollee will support ongoing research efforts including, but not limited to:

  • the blood brain barrier and chemical-induced effect on the fetal brain primary cell isolation;
  • the application of our neurovascular unit (NVU) model to evaluate chemical effects on neuroprogenitor cell proliferation and differentiation;
  • the evaluation of the role of thyroid hormones on neuroprogenitor cell proliferation, cytotoxicity and differentiation.

Additional duties include laboratory management of supplies, reagents, and equipment.

Benefits:

$12.72 per hour / 40 hours per week.  Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.  Program-paid medical insurance, and enrollee-paid dental and vision plans, are available. This position is reviewed yearly and may or may not be renewed.
